About the partners
Thousands of years of history, untouched natural landscapes, traditions and traditional handicrafts preserved in their ancient form, beautiful stories about fantastic creatures, brave kings and fogy kingdoms, welcoming people, tasty food and excellent wine, all can be found in Alba County, in the heart of Transylvania.
The best preserved Vauban fortress in Europe can be found in Alba Iulia, the ancient capital city of Romania, and the capital municipality of the county.
Because more than a half of Alba County territory is a covered by the mountains, the most important types of tourism developed are rural tourism, mountainous tourism and agro-tourism. In the late years, wine related tourism has been developed in some regions of the county.
The most important thing which drove us to be involved in the project is to find an innovative methodology of territorial development in which “the new” and “the old” can live together.
Objectives in PRESERVE
To find, along with all the partners, an innovative methodology of territorial development which we can propose as a way of solving different problems related to the natural and cultural landscape preservation.
To promote the concept of sustainable tourism by involving the local stakeholders, especially the university, in the implementation of different phases of the project.
